Dingo (Canis lupus dingo)
The dingo is Australia’s wild dog that is found across much of Australia. They live in a wide range of habitats in Australia and preference woodland and grassland areas that extend to the edge of forests.
Dingos are opportunistic carnivores and eat mammals as a main form of their diet and primary scavenge at night.
Description
The colour of a dingo’s coat is primarily determined by where it lives. Colours range from ginger, to more golden yellow in desert areas and can be darker tan to black in forested areas.
How to identify
When looking at camera images remember the full dingo outline won’t be captured as they will likely be investigating hollows for prey.
